Privacy of our email lists

We maintain e-mail lists to keep interested, eligible individuals informed about important topics, and individuals must affirmatively request to join them.
We configure our list server software to refuse to divulge the email addresses of our list subscribers to anyone other than those whom we authorize. We do not divulge any email address registered from the Website.

However, we are not the author of this software, and are not responsible for any failures in the software to preserve subscriber anonymity.

Subscribers to our e-mail list may terminate their subscriptions via a link at the bottom of each email sent from euislands.eu, or by contacting info@euislands.eu.

If you have given your written consent to receive the Secretariat’s newsletters, you will receive the newsletter, including information that has direct links to the Secretariat’s activities.

If you have given your written consent to receive invitations to our events, you will receive invitations and accompanying information around the Secretariat’s events.

If you have contacted via e-mail, we will share the specific information you requested with you.

Our website may further gather information on what webpages you visit and when, as well as your IP address.

We will never share your personal information with third parties unless we have your written permission. We use IT-solutions of third parties such as Mailchimp, Google Analytics and Drupal. Each of those parties has committed to be compliant with the GDPR-regulation.

Matomo (formerly "Piwik")

Our website uses Matomo (formerly "PIWIK"), an open source software to analyze the use of our website. All data collected through Matomo is stored at our own server - no data is given to third parties.

The legal basis for our choice of analytics is Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f) GDPR. Our legitimate interest is the analysis and optimization of our website.
We use Matomo with the anonymization function "Automatically Anonymize Visitor IPs". This anonymization feature truncates your IP address by two bytes, making it impossible to associate with you or the Internet connection you are using.
