The self-assessment tool aims to help islands to evaluate the current status of their island’s clean island transition according to eight indicators. It is used to identify the strengths and weaknesses of the transition process and prioritise the next steps to move forward. By responding questions on the island's vision, stakeholder engagement, energy system diagnosis, action plan, etc. this exercise encourages islands to reflect on the stage of the transition their island is in.

The tool helps applicants to the technical assistance of the Clean energy for EU islands secretariat to select the support category that is best adapted to their islands' needs. Based on the provided answers, applicants will obtain a recommendation on their support category, which can be: EXPLORE, SHAPE or ACT.

The Clean energy for EU islands secretariat made a video to explain the aim of the indicators, how they can be used, and how they will support the transition on your island. The video should give you all the necessary information to carry out the self-assessment. In case you have any questions, feel free to contact us at info@euislands.eu
