The RESponsible island prize aims to award islands with innovative and sustainable local renewable energy production for use in electricity, heating, cooling and transport. The three winners will receive a cash prize of €500,000, €250,000 and €100,000 from the European Commission, respectively. 

The "Green Salina Energy Days" took place in Salina from 27 to 29 June 2019. The event was organized by ENEA, with the participation of all partners of the Clean Energy for EU Islands Initiative.

From 24-25 June 2019, the EU Islands Secretariat and the Aran Islands Energy Cooperative co-hosted a capacity-building workshop. Set on the beautiful island of Árainn, the workshop fostered the collaboration between members of the local community, businesses from both the islands and the mainland, as well as representatives of the Irish government.

Until 30 June 2019, EU islands can apply for assistance from the Clean Energy for EU Islands Secretariat to advance the development of individual renewable energy and energy efficiency projects in their local community.
